Exploring Eastbourne

Coach holiday to Eastbourne

Eastbourne is a unique seaside resort with an amazing range of attractions in a lovely level setting. Everything is within easy reach with the seafront promenade leading virtually straight on to the foot of the beautiful Eastbourne Downs and Beachy Head.

Morning departure for Eastbourne, with a mid-afternoon arrival anticipated.

We take a drive along the South Downs to Brighton, a cosmopolitan resort for all seasons, with much to see. Don't miss the Royal Pavilion, home of King George IV, and probably the most exotic, extravagant royal palace in Europe. Stroll along the Victorian Pier and the beachfront, lined with cafes and for shopping, try the Lanes, a maze of streets filled with unusual shops.

Today enjoy a morning excursion to Royal Tunbridge Wells. The town's elegant architecture, especially in The Pantiles, accommodates a variety of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Royal Victoria Place, the High Street and the department stores of Fenwick's and Hoopers add to this choice. Later travel back via Hastings, taking in the scenery of the High Weald area of outstanding beauty. A medieval landscape of wooded rolling hills studded with sandstone outcrops; small, irregular-shaped fields; scattered farmsteads; and ancient routeways.

Enjoy a day of mystery, with a local knowledgeable guide, who will enlighten you on the history of the local area.

Today has been set aside to enjoy the resort. Part of the reason for a visit to Eastbourne has to be to enjoy being beside the sea! Enjoy a gentle stroll along the sand, jump on the local Dotto train or potter around the shops.

We depart Eastbourne after breakfast for the homeward journey.

Langham Hotel:

Proprietors Neil and Wendy Kirby bought the Langham Hotel in July 2005, and have already refurbished the reception, restaurants, bars, lounge and function rooms to a very high standard. Having worked at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in London's Park Lane for 28 years, Neil has brought a touch of Mayfair to Eastbourne. Many of the 77 bedrooms boast sea views, the conservatory restaurant has been awarded an AA Rosette for exceptional food.
