Coach holiday to Gilsland

The location of our hotel is an ideal base for exploring the World Heritage sites along Hadrian's Wall, as well as for visiting Carlisle, Durham and the Glorious Lakes. A guided tour is included so as not to miss the hidden gems of the lakes.

Monday

Depart Lincolnshire for your journey to Cumbria, a comfort stop will be taken in the historic city of York enroute. You will be greeted with tea and coffee whilst your cases are taken to your rooms. Unwind before this evenings meal and entertainment.

Tuesday

Following breakfast board the coach for the short journey to Carlisle. Firstly enjoy a visit to the Tullie House museum and art gallery. The Guildhall building is believed to date from the late 14th century. Its upper floors project out in the usual fashion of timber-framed structures. The building was extensively renovated in 1978-9, but much early timber-work survives, as do wattle-and-daub internal walls. Tullie House Garden is a pleasant courtyard style garden set within the historic heart of Carlisle City, close to the central shopping area. The garden is situated within the grounds of the historic Jacobean House, and is laid out in a style to reflect the era.
Free time this afternoon will be spent at leisure in Carlisle.

Wednesday

A guided tour of the Lake District has been included today. Your guide will take you on an informative tour with stops to be made along the way.

Thursday

Enjoy a scenic tour to the cathedral town of Durham. Durham City is home to one of the most recognisable landmarks in the UK, majestic Durham Cathedral. Together with adjacent Durham Castle, this UNESCO World Heritage Site forms one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe.
