Coach holiday to Suffolk
Welcome to Suffolk: a place you can unwind in. Situated on the east coast of England, Suffolk is a county filled with natural beauty, bordered by 50 miles of glorious coastline and topped with breathtaking skies. Its charming villages and medieval towns draw in artists and writers, while its bounty of great produce and restaurants make it a special spot for foodies. For the house and garden lover- this tour is for you!
Depart Lincolnshire for your journey to Ipswich. A comfort stop has been arranged in Bury St Edmunds before continuing your journey. Upon arrival at your hotel, you will be welcomed with tea and coffee whilst your cases are taken to your room.
Today after breakfast board the coach for your journey to Audley End House and Gardens. Explore this decadent Jacobean mansion and meet the staff in the Victorian Service Wing. Wander the tranquil gardens and enjoy stunning views across the unspoilt Essex countryside. Then gallop across to see the horses in the Victorian stable yard, or enjoy a cup of tea in the cafe. This afternoon free time will be taken in Saffron Walden.
Today your driver will be taking you to The Bridge Cottage. During John Constable's boyhood, the family living in Bridge Cottage were tenants of the Constable family. Family members collected tolls from the lighters passing through Flatford Lock and may have provided a rest area, beer house and eating place for the families who operated the commercial barge route along the River Stour between Sudbury and Mistley Wharf. Following your visit time at leisure will be spent in Colchester before returning back to your hotel.
Today has been set at leisure in Ipswich, East Anglias waterfront town. Suffolk's county town was granted a royal charter in 1200 and has been closely linked with the discovery of the New World and with historical figures such as Cardinal Wolsey and Charles Dickens. Its buildings match its illustrious past. The glorious Tudor Christchurch Mansion is set in a beautiful park close to the town centre and is now a free museum . Not far away from this you'll find Ipswich Museum that is home to Wool-I-Am the mammoth and Rosie the rhino as well as thousands of years of history brought back to Ipswich by generations of explorers.
Following breakfast, bid farewell to your hosts before making your way back to Lincolnshire, via the stunning city of Cambridge.
