Coach holiday to Ludlow
A delightful towne with olde worlde streets, a historic market place and spectacular castle, there is no wonder our passengers return year after year. The historic town centre is situated on a cliff above the River Teme and is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches.
Depart Lincolnshire for your journey to Ludlow. There will be time at leisure at Royal Leamington Spa, Wide boulevards, Georgian and Edwardian architecture and expansive, award-winning parks provide a sophisticated backdrop to this Regency shopping paradise. Often described as 'the best bits of London, all in a ten-minute walk', Leamington town centre combines a treasure-trove of independent, specialist boutiques with all the national chains you would expect to find in a large city.
Today we will cross the border into Herefordshire and following the black and white village trail, travelling via Mortimers Cross, scene of a historic battle, to Hereford. This city is still a large market town at heart, only citified by its splendid cathedral which is home of a world of important heritage. The Mappa Mundi, Magna Carta and Chained Library reside famously in the building's stunning chambers, while the Cathedral close has just undergone a magnificent redevelopment into the modern era. The city itself is an open book of timbered buildings, Georgian frontages, and family businesses; whilst across the pretty iron Victoria footbridge is Bishops Meadow to enjoy relaxed ambience at any time of year.
We have set today aside to spend at leisure in the town of Ludlow, where the medieval street pattern survives almost intact, including a magnificent ruined castle and exceptionally fine parish church. There are excellent craft and antique shops to browse at leisure.
Travel through the Shropshire Hills via Church Stretton to Historic Shrewsbury which sits in a loop of the River Severn. After free time in the city continue into Wales and the interesting town of Llangollen for a 2 hour motorised aquaduct cruise along the canal. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure in Llangollen before returning back to your hotel.
Bid farewell to your hosts before making your way back to Lincolnshire, comfort stops will be taken enroute.
