Today we travel from our hotel to Southport, Discover Lord Street, a tree-lined Victorian boulevard that is home to shops, restaurants and quaint tearooms, as well as the grand Wayfarers Arcade with its glass and iron domed roof. Stroll along Southport's pier, the country's oldest iron pier, then explore the beach and take a boat trip on Marine Lake, the UK's largest man-made leisure lake.
This morning we travel to Manchester for the highlight of your stay, a 6 hour cruise on the Manchester Ship Canal, You'll travel the 35-miles of the canal, enjoying spectacular scenery and a lively commentary along the way. They tell the story of how this magnificent waterway shaped the city of Manchester and the North West of England; take you through locks and bridges that have remained largely unchanged since their construction over 100 years ago; plus show you some of the region's most stunning architectural and natural sights. To make your journey even more enjoyable there is a licensed bar and servery available on board, selling refreshments and snacks throughout the cruise.
After breakfast we travel to Liverpool, we have included a guided tour of Liverpool museum to see the Terracotta Warriors, Since 1974, archaeologists have unearthed more than 8,000 life-sized Terracotta Warriors near Xi'an - each with individual clothing, hair and facial features - and have located more than 600 pits around the Emperor's mausoleum, covering an area of 22 square miles. The rest of the day is to spend at leisure in Liverpool.
We depart the hotel for our return journey to Lincolnshire, with a comfort stop to be taken at Brigg garden centre, Brigg Garden Centre is the flagship centre of the British Garden Centres family. From the huge plant area to the beautiful gift department, Brigg Garden Centre is the destination centre for the keen gardener.
