Scarborough in Spring
Often referred to as "The Queen of the Yorkshire Coast" with its imposing 12th century castle dominating the skyline, Scarborough has a wealth of attractions and is regarded as one of the East coast's premier holiday resorts. This Victorian town has much to offer with its golden beaches and attractive coastline, beachfront cafes, beautiful parks and gardens and elegant Victorian esplanade.
We travel North to Scarborough via Beverley, Voted one of the best places to live in the UK, Beverley is also one of Yorkshire's best kept secrets. Renowned for its exquisite 13th Century Minster, the town is home to a lively market, a thriving music scene, excellent flat racing and a medieval skyline that remains refreshingly unspoilt. You should arrive at your hotel with plenty of time to relax before your evening meal.
Today we travel from our hotel to Bridlington for a half day excursion, It's fair to say that Bridlington Old Town is a relatively quiet place due to the fact that a lot of tourists who visit Bridlington are unaware that this part of the town exists. However, the Old Town really is a must visit for anyone keen on history as it is steeped in Medieval charm which can be seen just by rambling through the streets and alleyways. The rest of the day is to be spent at leisure in Scarborough.
This morning we travel to Pickering to meet the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, a stunning visual trip along the North Yorkshire Moors which ends in Whitby where you have time at leisure for the rest of the day, From the atmospheric Abbey towering over winding cobbled streets to the windswept beach and working harbour, Whitby is not your traditional coastal town. An Enjoy England award winner for Best Day Out, be sure to sample Yorkshire's best fish and chips, discover ancient vampire legends and sit under the whale bone arch, watching the brightly coloured fishing vessels passing by.
Today has been set aside to enjoy your resort, From the rugged rocky headland and colourful seaside traditions of the South Bay, to the bright beach huts of the award-winning sandy North Bay, Scarborough has all the ingredients you need
We depart the hotel for our return journey to Lincolnshire, with a comfort stop to be made in the 2017 UK City of Culture Hull.
