The classic British seaside resort and vibrant town centre of Worthing provides the ideal spot for exploring all year round. Today we have set aside to visit the seaside town of Brighton, calling in at the Lancing College Chapel enroute. Founded by Nathaniel Woodard in 1848, the Lancing College Chapel is the largest school chapel in the world, being an architectural masterpiece of the gothic revival, with soaring columns and a wealth of stained glass, carvings and tapestries. Once in Brighton, the largest resort on the south coast take a stroll along the infamous pier, and maybe indulge in its famous fish & chip shop.
Today you will visit Lewes Castle. Climb to the top of this 1000 year old Norman Castle for stunning panoramic views across Sussex. The adjoining Barbican House is home to the Museum of Sussex Archaeology and houses local collections from the Stone Age to medieval times. A mini-cinema tells the story of Lewes from prehistoric to Victorian times. At Anne of Cleves House you can explore how the Tudors and Elizabethans lived, worked and relaxed at home.
A free day in Worthing. Perhaps you can enjoy a stroll through some of the splendid parks and gardens overlooking the sea. Or maybe visit the English Martyr's Church, notable for having the only known reproduction of the Sistine Chapel in the world. Shoppers will find a mix of famous high street names alongside unique boutique shops to browse in the welcoming town centre.
Feeling relaxed and refreshed, after breakfast we depart Worthing with fond memories and head back to Lincolnshire, with comfort stops planned enroute.
This Grade Two listed building has a gorgeous Georgian frontage. The family run hotel overlooks beautiful gardens, the sea, and the promenade, and is within a leisurely walk of the town centre. The traditional restaurant serves fine cuisine using local produce in a friendly atmosphere.
