Sunday
We travel to Cumbernauld today for your Scottish adventure. Your friendly driver will arrange comfort stops on the way and we should arrive at the hotel with plenty of time to settle in before your evening meal.
Monday
After breakfast, please join your driver for a visit to the Glasgow Transport Museum. Riverside Museum is Glasgow's award-winning transport museum. With over 3,000 objects on display there's everything from skateboards to locomotives, paintings to prams and cars to a Stormtrooper. We then board the coach for a trip into Edinburgh for free time to be able to get refreshments (your evening meal is not included today) for the famous Tattoo. Castlehill, The old cobbled approach to the castle, is a short walk of some 80 metres though on a steep incline and consequently may prove difficult for some. In addition, there are approximately a further 60 metres followed by a dozen or so steps to be negotiated before you reach the spectator stands which in themselves are quite steeply tiered. The evening performance will be a spectacular sight. Pyrotechnics and the masterfully prepared display will have you mesmorised. You will get back to the hotel quite late full of amazing stories to tell.
Tuesday
This morning after breakfast we have included a trip to see the Falkirk Wheel. The concept of a wheel as a boat lift was first considered as a solution for Falkirk. Other ideas included rolling eggs, tilting tanks, a giant see-saw and overhead monorails!. It's a quick trip but gives you an insight into the fascinating engineering minds of the day. There will be time to take a look around the museum and maybe catch a bite to eat. We follow with a trip to see the Kelpies. The Kelpies' name reflects the mythological transforming beasts that possess the strength and endurance of 100 horses; a quality that's analogous with the transformational change of the area's landscapes, endurance of its inland waterways and the strength of its communities. The area around the massive sculptures has been designed to give access for all, meaning everyone can come and see them up close. We have included a tour for an exclusive look at their engineering and ingenuity which allows you to see the inside of these magnificent beasts. Don't forget to round off your trip at the visitor centre.
