A leisurely departure begins your holiday to the Pennine Hills, with a comfort stop to be taken in Holmfirth, Known locally as 'Little Hollywood', Holmfirth is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine. But there's another reason thousands of visitors flock every year. Sitting in the heart of the breathtaking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers and wildlife lovers alike. We should arrive at the hotel with plenty of time to settle in before your evening meal.


This morning we travel to Settle to join the Railway, considered the most scenic railway journey in England as it winds through moorland scenery and over the famous Ribblehead Viaduct.


Foulridge Canal cruises has been operating under the present ownership for 23 years on the tranquil countryside section of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Foulridge Canal Wharf, 2 miles from the end of the M65 motorway in Colne. The boat Marton Emperor seats 50 people in comfort and we run all year for charters, the boat having central heating for the colder months. We join the boat for a 90 minute cruise with tea/coffee and biscuits served on board you can relax and unwind as you take in the scenery. This afternoon we go to Skipton to have a walk around the market, this market has been on the go for 800 years and still is the highlight for many passengers on our tours.


Southport is our destination for today, Whether it is building sandcastles on the beach with the kids, or eating fish and chips on the promenade or enjoying the tranquillity of the coast wandering along the Pier or having some fun in the arcades Southport has something for everyone's tastes.


We depart the hotel for our return journey to Lincolnshire, with a comfort stop on the way in Leeds.
