Forget the deckchairs and dodgems; this is Yorkshire's coastline at its most raw and elemental. Here, brooding cliffs tower over a huddle of red roofed former fishing cottages that spill right down to the edge of the sea, creating a 'lost in time' getaway for anyone who loves unusual architecture and breathtaking scenery. Tuesday
Today we have included a trip to Sewerby Hall and Gardens. A delightful house in a spectacular setting, come and relive history at Grade I listed Sewerby Hall. The Georgian core of the house was built 1714-1720 by John Graeme with later additions in 1808, 1830s, 40s, and 90s; Sewerby is a tour through architectural history. A total restoration in 2013-2014 has re-presented the hall as an Edwardian Country house, circa 1910. The rooms are furnished with impressive pieces from the Victoria and Albert Museum as well as other important collections. 50 acres of award-winning gardens and woodland each offering its own variety of sights, smells and sounds throughout each of the four seasons. Then of course the Zoo. Meet a wealth of domestic and wild animals from various countries such as pygmy goats from Africa and llamas from South America. We have included a tour of the house and also a warming afternoon tea for you to enjoy.
Wednesday
After breakfast, in the George III suite, Morning devotions, carols and readings before a sherry reception takes us to Christmas lunch in the Panorama restaurant. If you have been good, there will be a visit from a surprise guest as your dinner settles. This afternoon your driver will take you into Whitby where you can have a lovely walk around the unique shops or the high street stores we all know and love. This evening, the hotel entertainment will have you up and dancing.
Thursday
A visit into Scarborough has been arranged for today. Scarborough is established as one of our passenger's favourite destinations, not only for the seaside attractions but for the history and culture of this beautiful town. This evening a buffet will be served whilst you dance the night away with your entertainer.
