Within a stones throw of the Dockyard, the town's military connections are evident. During the Napoleonic times Fort Amherst was built to defend the Royal Dockyard from landward invasion and was used right up to the Second World War. A military base is still at Brompton Barracks and the stories of heroism and bravery can be discovered at Kent's only designated museum of national importance The Royal Engineers Museum.

We travel to Chatham via the City of Cambridge. Your friendly driver will ensure you arrive at the hotel with plenty of time to relax before your evening meal.

After breakfast we visit Chapel down winery for a tour. Your tour will start with an introduction to Chapel Down followed by a short walk to the vineyards to learn about how they use the English climate to grow fantastic, ripe fruit. In the winery they'll show you the processes they use to transform great fruit into great wines and how the sparkling wines are made using the intricate Traditional Method. To complete the experience, all tours include a tutored tasting of the award-winning sparkling and still wines.

The highlight of this tour is the 1940's event at the Dockyard. From numerous areas filled with unique vintage traders and stalls, to nostalgic sing-a-longs and '40s entertainment, fashion shows, vintage car parades, Spitfire aircraft displays and much more, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, one of the world's most famous maritime attractions, will be transformed into a tribute to all things '40s. Motor enthusiasts will be wowed by the daily 'Coming Home' parade - an impressive convoy of vintage cars, trucks and jeeps, whilst all eyes will turn to the sky for the nostalgic 'Spirit of Kent' spitfire display which takes place each afternoon, bringing the heritage site alive with the sounds and smells of 1940's Britain.

Today we visit Canterbury, Experience Canterbury's history and heritage, see the stunning architecture and world famous buildings. Maybe visit the Cathedral or just find a spot in a café and relax in this stunning scenic City.

Sadly we have to travel back to Lincolnshire. Your driver will arrange comfort stops on the way.
