You are based in a hotel running directly along the canal, many with canal view rooms. First featured in our 2014 brochure and with rave reviews, The Rendezvous hotel provides great service, comfortable rooms and a scenic location. No trip to Skipton would be complete without a canal cruise! We have also included some exciting new excursions as well as a visit to Newby Hall and Gardens along with free time in this fascinating town.

Monday

We travel to Yorkshire this morning with a stop on the way in the bustling City of Leeds. The unofficial capital of Yorkshire, Leeds is located in the heart of the UK and is one of our passengers favourite destinations. Whether you're looking for culture, history, shopping or just to wander and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, there's so much to experience in Leeds. The proud home to world-class theatres, performance, music and dance, award-winning restaurants, a wealth of attractions and breath-taking architecture. The shopping offer is unrivalled and the independent scene is thriving. We will arrive at the Rendezvous on the banks of the beautiful Leeds, Bradford Canal with time to settle in before your evening meal.

Tuesday

Bolton Abbey is our destination for this morning. Its landscape is the "jewel in the crown" of Yorkshire's many landscapes, and the 30,000 acres of beautiful countryside boast over 80 miles of footpaths to walk and explore, providing something for all ages. Explore the ruins of the Priory and discover a landscape full of history and legend. Walk along the riverside, woodland and moorland paths and enjoy local produce in the excellent restaurants, tea rooms and cafes, treat yourself in the quality gift shops or simply relax beside the river. We then travel into Harrogate. With its handsome historic buildings and verdant gardens, Harrogate is one of Yorkshire's most elegant destinations. Maybe lunch at the famous Betty's tearoom and then explore the many varied shops or visit the antique shops, there is something for all to enjoy.

Wednesday

After breakfast your friendly driver will take you into Skipton. Skipton Market is unique in the way it operates. Its history dates back to medieval times, when a Royal Charter from King John granted consent to 'The Lord of the Honour' of Skipton Castle to hold a fair on Skipton High Street.
This consent still holds true today - and the current owner of Skipton Castle grants the rights to hold the market on four days each week. For many years, the market in Skipton was a place where animals were traded. The town's close association with sheep is reflected in the name. Skipton actually means 'Sheep Town' - so the historic link will always remain.

Thursday

Parcevall Hall Gardens are the largest gardens open to the public in the Yorkshire Dales. The 24 acres of woodland and formal gardens offer impressive views of Simon's Seat and Wharfedale.
Sir William Milner (1893-1960) began (in 1927) on a project to rebuild the derelict early 16th/17th Century shell of Parcevall Hall and developed the surrounding moorland landscape in to glorious gardens. At the height of 6'7" he was known as a 'gentle giant', but despite his title and having Queen Mary as his Godmother (who made frequent visits to the Hall) he was known to be a reluctant socialite. The Tea Room, situated at the gardens' entrance, has spectacular views of the path to Troller's Gill and Simon's Seat. It's an ideal place to relax, spot the wildlife and enjoy the tranquillity of this beautiful place. Over many years, Parcevall Hall Gardens has become a very popular location with TV and film companies, recently being shown on 'The Dales', 'Hairy Bikers' and 'Escape to the Country'.For your final evening we have included a 3 hour luxury dinner cruise hosted by your hotel. On board The Swan you will travel down the Canal whilst you enjoy a 3 course meal prepared by the head chef. Based on connotations of the 'Orient Express', the elegant, glamorous and well-appointed interior features sumptuous upholstery, rich fabrics, soft lighting, art deco design and antique fixtures. This is a classical design in a timeless style.

Friday

Sadly we say a fond farewell to our hosts and travel back to Lincolnshire. We will have a comfort stop in the charming town of Beverley. Beverley's charming streets and courtyards continue to attract history buffs, music lovers, racegoers and shoppers alike. Landmarks include the gothic Beverley Minster - famous for its 13th century stone carvings and stained glass - and the 15th century North Bar which divides impressive Georgian streets containing a great number of listed buildings. Take advantage of the upmarket shopping experience and browse high street names independent shops.
